Life of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru

A person that I admire the most is Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Indian prime minister who led Indian dependence movement. About 10 years ago, I happened to read a world history book written by him and it came to me as a surprise. First of all, I was stimulated by depth of his knowledge and inspired by his deep thoughts about historical events. The book was more like India and Indians' survival experience rather than simple history. At the time, India was under control of British Empire and the trace of his agony of how to behave as a conscious intellect under irrational social circumstances is well described in the book.          Overwhelmed by his keen insights about history, I searched him through the internet and read his biography. I found out that Nehru put his heart and soul into accomplishing his country's freedom, overcoming many hardships. For example, he never gave up the effort to activate Non-aligned Movement even though he was put into prison as a ringleader and served nine-year sentence. After gaining independence, Nehru tried to construct his country's social system based on concerns for the poor and underprivileged. Social responsibility and freedom were the two spiritual pillars that pursued for his entire life. I respect him the most because he dedicated his entire life for his faith that justice.
